A day in the life of...

If you could live the life of any literary character from any book you've read, who would it be and why? Describe the character and his/her "life," and explain and show why you'd appreciate or desire to live that life.

  1. I have read a couple of books, in the series Heartland. Amy Fleming works with horses and helps fix their problems or rehomes them. I would love to be her because my dream is to work with horses when I’m older. She trains some foals and I have always wanted to train a foal. I train older horses right now, but I would like to continue doing that for the rest of my life. Even if it isn’t a full-time job, I at least want to do it as a part time job. She is very mature in her work and cares for the horses more than herself. She also cares about them more than receiving money for the work she does. All she cares about is working with the horses and making them better.

  2. I would like to live the life of Avery VanDemere from the book Inherit Midnight by Kate Kae Meyer. Avery is an intelligent teen living with her grandmother. A day in her life would be playing the game that her grandmother came up with. She is competing against her family. The game is about different character traits that would be good for the person who inherits the company and all the inheritance in the end. Some of these traits are intellect, fortitude, resourcefulness, unity, commitment, courage and integrity. Avery ends up winning a large part of the inheritance because she embodies these character traits. I would want to live her life because of the character traits that she has.

  3. I’d want to be Alek from the Leviathan trilogy. He’s a prince, a soldier, and lives an exciting life that is full of action and good friends. Alek lives in a world slightly similar to ours, but it is more dependent on industrial machinery. The only downside would that his life takes place during the 1900s, World War 1 era. Alek is a hero, rich, brave, and is set to inherit the emperor’s throne. I’d appreciate the many amazing assets of Alek’s life. The fact that he has several trusted friends who protect and support him through his time in the war. I’d enjoy the simplicity of the time, a world with less technology than ours. There's also the fact that I'd have a chance to change history and see a world completely different than mine. A world filled with fabricated beasts and industrial machines that our world had never created.

  4. When I think of what books I find most entertaining I immediately think of speculative fiction. In case you are unaware of what speculative fiction, it is stories of the supernatural, futuristic, or imagined elements. Things like comic books, Divergent, or even Hunger Games are what I find most intriguing. This being said, if I was to choose a character to become. I would choose Raven Darkhölme. If you have ever read a comic book or watched a Marvel movie, you may know of her. She is a fictional character who is associated with the X-Men. She can shape shift into whatever or whoever she wants. This is the main trait that I find appealing, and it is for this reason that I would like to be this character. Her life would be extremely simplistic. She can easily morph into anything and this would provide with her with many opportunists that can make her life easier. For example, your at Walmart, there out of your favorite toilet paper. the worker is taking forever, simple change form into the worker, go into the stock room, and find it yourself.

  5. If I was able to switch lives with any literary character would probably be Blade Morrison from Solo by Kwame Alexander. Blade is the adopted son of a World renown Rockstar. Throughout the book, Blade goes on a wild goose chase to find his birth mother. I chose Blade because his life is amazing. He lives in a glorious mansion with his brother and sister. They are all music prodigies. I would love to live in a large mansion, drive a Maserati and have my own record deal at 16 years old.

  6. If I could be any charter from a book, I read I would be Steve Jobs from The Man Who Thought Differently. I would like to be him because he is a person that I think is cool because no matter how many times he failed he keep going. Also, he didn’t care what people thought about him. One of his best qualities that got him so big in the business world isn't his knowledge of computers and tech, but it was the way he could talk to people and sell his brand and product. His life was very busy and hard whether it was going to business meetings or talking to his team about the new products. I would like to be him for a day because I would like to know how it feels to be on the top. I would like to see how hard it is to do what he did.

  7. If I could live the life of any character from any book, I've read it would we ponyboy from The Outsiders. I would be him for a variety of reasons. One of them being he lives in a house full of hot boys. Now granite ponyboys life is rough and the ending is also scary I would still want to be him. Only for the reason above. I would desire to live his life as well because it was back in the old days which I think is unique time. I like the style of it back then as well with the fashion. A day in ponyboys life would probably consist of hanging around his hot friends and maybe even getting into a gang fight. Now that doesn’t sound to fun but the only reason, I would ever consider this life is with the things I listed above.

  9. If I had to be a character from a book, I would be Margaret from Mary Downing Hahn’s book stepping on the cracks. Margaret finds out that her bully Gordy isn’t as bad as he seems. She soon finds out that Gordy’s brother is a deserter in the woods. Surprisingly she wants to help him even though her brother is overseas in World War II. She also finds out that Gordy’s life is hard at home he has an abusive dad at home and other siblings to take care of but somehow manages to take care of his deserter brother in the woods. she helps his brother by bringing food clothing blankets and heat. Gordy really doesn’t want help from Margaret but then Gordy’s brother gets very sick because it was becoming winter. So, Margaret talks Gordy into getting help from an adult so he doesn’t die. I want to be Margaret because she is very loving caring and helpful to someone most people wouldn’t be. She is this way even though her brother is fighting for his country and giving up his safety to make sure his country is safe.

  10. I would like to be Tucket from Tucket’s ride. Because he’s had such a tough life. He had to learn to live and survive on his own. From these hard times he became stronger and gained many skills and almost nothing could take him down. He is prepared for anything that comes his way. This life would be awesome because you would be pretty much invisible.

  11. If I could choose to be any literary character from any book, I think that I would choose to be Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. I would want to be her because she is very brave and courageous. She always knows what to do and how to stay alive in the most desperate situations. A day in the life of her would be very interesting. After she comes to District 12 her life is mainly trying to stay alive. I mean that part wouldn't be cool but being a strong and independent female would be very cool. She always believes in her self and knows whats best for herself and others. Her life would be very interesting and you would never know what was going to come next. These are the main reasons why I would want to be Katiness Everdeen.

  12. If I could be any character from a book I have read, I would choose Nick Carraway from The Great Gatsby. However, I would only choose him for certain moments of his life. The moments I would like to live through Nick’s shoes would be during Gatsby’s grand parties. I would love to experience firsthand what a party back during the 1920’s would have been like. Another reason I would enjoy becoming Nick is to see the early stages of New York City. I marvel at how incredible that city was nearly one hundred years ago. I feel that it would amaze me to see the progress it has come to go back and see it. Although Nick did have a grand life, some moments I would not want to experience such as Gatsby’s death. All in all, I think trading places with Nick from The Great Gatsby would be an incredible experience.
